How To Compress A Pdf File On Iphone
- HabaneroDavid Scammell Nov 25, 2008 at 08:41amWhich version of Adobe Reader are you using? Do you also have Adobe Acrobat installed on your system?I just tried this using Adobe Reader 9.x on Windows XP Professional and there is no 'Adobe PDF' selection as a printer. The choice is there on another computer that has Adobe Acrobat installed. If someone does not have Adobe Acrobat or the full Adobe suite, they can try some freebie PDF print drivers like CutePDF or PDF995 or PrimoPDF or Bullzip. However, unless you purchase the 'non-free' versions, you won't have the customization or the choices to save it to a smaller file size.
- SerranoLucaC Dec 2, 2008 at 08:10amHello, David.Adobe Acrobat is required to have an official Adobe pdf printer. Adobre Reader hasn't this feature.
If you don't want or either don't need Adobe Acrobat, there are other free and good virtual pdf printers, like PdfCreator (http://www.pdfforge.org/products/pdfcreator) or pdf995 (http://www.pdf995.com/) just to mention 2.Ciao,
Cortez - SonoraDMA1 Feb 4, 2009 at 10:36amIs there a way to do this without the bookmarks being removed?
- CayenneThe Monsta Feb 11, 2009 at 04:22pmIf you have Adobe Acrobat (not the basic Adobe Reader), you can also go to File > Reduce File Size.Coming from a print background, I'd suggest selecting Acrobat 5.0 compatibility on the dialog box. t should take all images - the main cause of a big PDF - down to 200dpi instead of the 600 DPI that some people put into documents.Give it a go.. it also optimised the PDF, often better than some of the open source and free PDF printers.
- Ben.B (Spiceworks) Mar 2, 2009 at 06:02pmYou can also save a PDF with different version compatibility to reduce filesize. If you save with v.7+ you will reduce filesize (smaller than the same file with v.5+ compatibility). This requires Acrobat, so Reader won't work.
- PimientoDoug672 Mar 10, 2009 at 09:18amAlso as another alternative to what Cortez mentioned you can use - http://www.pdfill.com/ it requires you use Ghostscript as well. However it gives you the ability to print to large architectural sheets sizes if required, as well as merge, and several other functions. And it's free!
- Serranochris720 Feb 2, 2010 at 01:51amPDF creator is open source and freeware
can be used on any pc or server (even terminal server) - Thai Pepperdoublea Jul 21, 2010 at 04:23pmIf you have Acrobat installed, there are much easier and more efficient ways to reduce the file size than this method. Nds files free download.

- AnaheimJoel Geraci Sep 22, 2011 at 02:13amAcrobat X has a convenient 'Save As' -> 'Reduced Size PDF' that will compress the file.. often more than 50%.
